KWPN Inspection 2015 - Success for Donarsagan and Kinettic!

With the Amazing Quintenn Alston 'at the Wheel' along with Hilltop Farm's Melissa Burke, Sagan and Kinettic (by Netto) entered the arena for the KWPN Keuring at Iron Spring Farm.   Among a spectacular class of colts and fillies Kaiten took the second place score and the Honor of First Premium foal.   The pair were naturals at this, Kaiten's first outing.   We cannot offer enough Thanks to  Quintenn and the amazing staff at Hilltop Farm for making this day such a success for all of us.   This is just the beginning, Kaiten!

New Video of Kinettic

Kinettic, 3 month old filly by Netto (Negro - Purioso - Nimmerdor) out of Donarsagan, filmed with her dam in late July.   This spectacular filly is one of only four Netto foals in the United States.   Her spectacular movement is matched only by her laid-back nature.   A spectacular performance and breeding prospect for the discriminating buyer, Kinettic is available for sale.    (Video courtesy of Hilltop Farm, Colora Maryland.)   Contact Natalie for more information at (410)-658-9898 or Michelle at Firemist Farm at (410)-472-6478.

...and Baby Makes THREE

Windtanzer never fails to please.   It's part of her exceptional nature.   Just back under saddle with her Rotspon foal Reisa beside her Tanzer checked in foal today to Diamond Stud (below) for 2016.   After what seemed like the longest winter in history followed by a spring drought and summer temps from May on it was easy to forget that time was indeed marching on and breeding season was passing us by.   Having considered a year off from breeding,  we made a late decision to breed, and there it was -  the 'blip' on the ultrasound screen.   That's my Tanzer!

Firemist Farm would like to give special thanks to Jennifer Arnoldt at Dreamscape Farm who went beyond the call to get us semen on short notice, and who was a joy to work with from start to finish.

Tanzer Becomes a 'Working Mother'

Always the good soul, Tanzer proved to us again what a fabulous nature she has when she went back under saddle, baby in tow.   6 Week old Reisa took just a few minutes learning the ropes while Tanzer adjusted patiently to working with her baby beside, and occasionally on TOP of her!    A few milk breaks, and the pair were like old pros.

The exercise was as rewarding for the humans as the horses, and will no doubt build even more confidence in the already bold and friendly Reisa.  As for Tanzer, well, a few months of maternity leave on clover and like all mothers she is looking forward to getting back her 'girlish figure.'

Kaareltje's First-born Enters the Eventing Spotlight

Kastiana Sahal is our first Katje baby, and she was a huge girl with a huge heart from her first moments.  Now over 17.3 hands I was skeptical when this big girl entered the eventing arena.  Her dam Wrave has amazing jumping aptitude, but as the offspring of a Dutch Harness type sire we wondered if she had the ability to conquer those big, solid fences.   No question about it now!   Under her owner/rider Jamie she has flourished, and the two just completed their second Training level event.   There is no greater pleasure than watching our offspring mature and succeed and knowing they are bringing joy to their owners.   Congratulations Anna and Jamie.  This is just the beginning for you both!

Growing Girls

In the blink of an eye the weeks have past, and Reisa is now two weeks old.  This sweet and gorgeous filly has captured my heart with her amazing personality, and I am in serious danger of keeping her all to myself!  As kind as she is pretty, she is the spitting image of her very successful grand-dam Full Moon, one of the the kindest mares I have ever known.   An amateur rider's dream horse in the making.

Meanwhile Kaiten has turned one month old, and it is no surprise with her athletic parents that she has huge bone, powerful movement and is already beginning to display the qualities necessary for the demands of upper level dressage.   No fragile flower here!   This baby appears to be every bit as FEI capable as her famous father and her talented young dam, and we are very carefully considering homes for Kaiten with owners who will be able to develop her properly for a future in the sport arena.

...and It's Another GIRL!

Windtanzer delivered a stunning chestnut filly, again early Monday morning.   Monday's are looking up these days!    Of course no breeder minds those fillies.

'Red October' was up and nursing in half an hour, breaking even Kaiten's record.   She is surprisingly refined for a Rotspon - Tanzer cross, and favors her grand-dam Full Moon (Wertherson - Jet Stream) both physically and in nature.    'Reisa' as we are calling her in the stable is so sweet and personable that it's been hard to take a good picture - she is never far enough away to get much more than a muzzle!   We managed a head shot when she was caught napping on her feet after an afternoon of play n the sun.   This Golden Retriever' in a horse suit is going to make someone a wonderful riding partner as well as a super companion.   She is nearly fearless, and already loves her Jolly Balls, large and small.   I'm definitely enamored.   With a pedigree that includes Rubinstein, World Cup I and Werther she will be an asset as a broodmare as well as in sport.   Perhaps this is a Keeper?

Kinnetic at 10 Days Old

Little Kinnetic (by Netto out of Donarsagan) is now 10 days old, and has begun to show all her gaits.   We are really enjoying this forward, athletic filly, while we await the birth of her Auntie Tanzer's baby any day now.

She's Here!

Sagan gave birth to a strong, healthy baby girl Monday morning just after 1:00 a.m.   'Kinnetic', one of only a handful of Netto foals in the U.S.,  was up and literally running within the hour, and may be the boldest, most forward foal we have seen since her dam was born.   She is pictured below at the tender age of just 7 hours old, already on the move.

Kinnetic ('Kaiten' for short) appears to be black like her dam with four 'chrome wheels', and bears a striking resemblance to her sire with her huge bone and powerful hind-quarter.  She is already displaying her dam's forward personality and sweet nature.   Sagan, dam of the Rotspon foal Rhylen, repeated her maiden performance as a spectacular mother.   We're having a blast working with this precocious second foal who likes to nap in my lap between her romps around the field.  She is pictured below her second day of life, incredibly correct for such a newborn.

Now we await the arrival of her cousin from Windtanzer, due next week.  No rest for the weary, but it will be well worth it to have another foal like this one!

Breeding Season Begins!

                                                                     WINDTANZER

We are less than 30 days away from foaling now, and Sagan and Tanzer, pictured without their 'baby bumps,'  now look the part of soon-to-be mothers.   The rough winter seems to be behind us, and things are greening up just in time for the new arrivals.

Meanwhile we have begun checking Wrave, who will be the first to be bred this spring.   We have some wonderful stallions 'on ice' as well as several fresh semen breedings at our disposal.    The final decisions are being made on the matches for 2015.   Stay Tuned!
