2011 Kaareltje Foal Expected!

Kaareltje, castrated in 2009 to allow him to better enjoy his retirement, is expecting a foal from the lovely Dutch Warmblood mare Tatiana. This will be his first frozen semen foal, and we are very excited about this pregnancy. Although still early, we are optimistic that Kaareltje's 3 year old daughter Kastiana may have a little brother or sister, and thrilled that the frozen semen has proven to 'do the job' even as he was fairly aged when he was collected. Thanks go out to Dr. Deborah Harrison for her expertise with frozen semen and for allowing us this opportunity with one of her spectacular mares. Also to Select Breeder's Services who worked diligently to get the best results from the freezing process allowing us a chance to reproduce this one of a kind boy. Katje is pictured below in his retirement enjoying the attention of one of his greatest fans, my eighty year old mother!
